Physicochemical properties |
White or off-white powder, relative density 2.846, melting point 1084 ° C, almost insoluble in water, insoluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, ethanol, acetone, soluble in ammonia and ether, soluble in concentrated alkali metal thiocyanate solution, The conjugate is formed and dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid to decompose. It can be ignited by heating in air to above 140 °C. The dried cuprous thiocyanate absorbs ammonia in cold to form an adduct of arsenic thiocyanate (2 CuSCN·5NH 3 ), which is heated to release ammonia. |
Uses |
It is a highly effective antifouling agent. It is mainly used as antifouling coating for ship bottom. It is an effective antifouling agent when it is mixed with sodium pyrithione or copper pyrithione. It has antibacterial and anti-algae activity. |
